By Washington Post editors

Two nuns seriously injured in a fatal drunken driving crash are said to be improving.

Sister Charlotte Lange, 70, has been moved out of Inova Fairfax Hospital's trauma unit, according to posting on the Web site of the Bendictine Sisters of Virginia. She still faces orthopedic surgery.

Sister Connie Ruth Lupton, 75, remains in the ICU, but is said to be making progress.

An alleged drunk driver with a record of numerous motor vehicle violations in recent years, including two drunken-driving cases for which he served 20 days in jail, is accused of hitting head on the nuns vehicle. Carlos A. Martinelly-Montano, 23, has been charged with Mosier's death and injuring her fellow sister.
