Vandals trash Dale City water park
Officials at a northern Virginia water park are cleaning up after vandals tossed food and furniture into the park's main pool.
Prince William County Park Authority spokeswoman Dianne Cabot says the vandalism at Waterworks Waterpark occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Friday, when the last lifeguard left, and 8 a.m. Saturday.
Park officials say someone threw hamburger patties, French fries and pretzels into the pool. In addition, they found tables, chairs, lifeguard stands and cigarette butts in the water. Cabot says mozzarella cheese also was streaked on a slide.
The park was closed as crews planned to drain, sanitize and refill the pool before visitors are allowed to return.
The park authority is offering a reward for tips leading to an arrest in the case.
