2 Va. teens killed in Prince William crash
Two Northern Virginia teenagers were killed Sunday morning when their car went out of control and was struck by another vehicle, police said.
The incident occurred about 3:30 a.m. in the Haymarket area of Prince William County, police said.
They said a 2004 Mazda went out of control on the crest of a hill while headed east on Logmill Road, near Parnell Court.
After rotating counter-clockwise, the Mazda was struck by an Acura that was headed west on Logmill, police said. According to police, the Acura was forced into a ditch, and the Mazda flipped over and turned upside down.
Police said the driver of the Mazda and the front-seat passanger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda was identified by police as Stephen Tyler Dixon, 18, of Stourcliffe Court in Haymarket. The passenger killed was identified by police as as Derek Meffert, 15, of Hunton Lane in Haymarket.
Police said a passenger in the back seat of the Mazda and the driver of the Acura were taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.
