By Washington Post editors

Norfolk police say three people were killed and three others were injured when a car they were riding in ran off the road and hit a house.

Police spokesman Chris Amos says the accident occurred around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday. No one in the house was injured.

Amos says two victims died at the scene and another was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The others' injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening. They were taken to a local hospital.
