Alexandria main break affecting service
Officials in Alexandria report that a water main break on Mill road, near Eisenhower Avenue and Telegraph Road, has knocked out water service to nearby homes and businesses and may clog traffic in the area.
David Barney, a spokesman for the Virginia American Water company, said contractors punctured a 12-inch main Monday morning, and water service was lost in a local hotel, townhouse complex, and other businesses. It was not clear how long service would be out.
