Army investigates Va. soldier's death
The Army is conducting a criminal investigation into the July 2 death of a Virginia soldier in Iraq.
Spc. Morganne McBeth’s death is being investigated by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command at Fort Belvoir.
Spokesman Jeffrey Casto confirmed the investigation on Wednesday, but said he could not discuss details of the case. He said no arrests have been made.
McBeth’s parents, Sylvia and Leonard McBeth, told The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg that Army officials told them that their daughter had been stabbed.
The 19-year-old McBeth joined the Army in 2008. She was a combat medic.
