Inova Mount Vernon plans expansion

By Washington Post editors

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria announced Friday that it plans to spend $43.6 million to renovate and expand its campus, with construction scheduled to begin in 2012 pending regulatory approval, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The 65,000-square-foot project will add a patient tower, two operating rooms, space for further growth and infrastructure upgrades. The project will also enhance medical surgery, orthopedics, joint replacement and rehabilitation services.

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital has 237 licensed beds. In addition to the Mount Vernon community, it serves southeastern Fairfax County.
