Va. school temporarily evacuated

By Washington Post editors

Island Creek Elementary school in Fairfax was temporarily evacuated Thursday morning after students and faculty members reported an odor coming from an unknown source.

Two teachers and one student, who had an asthma attack, were taken to the hospital according to Fairfax County Public Schools spokesman Paul Regnier.

The school was temporarily evacuated and the air conditioning was turned off.

A Fairfax fire official said the odor appeared to be emanating from a generator at a construction site near the school. School officials were told to close the building's windows.
