One of the 10 people slain last week in the rugged mountains of northern Afghanistan has been identified as a videographer from Harrisonburg, Va.
Brian Carderelli was a 2009 graduate of James Madison University. The university's president, Linwood H. Rose, released a statement Monday offering condolences to his family:
"Today, the International Assistance Mission confirmed that Brian Carderelli was among several people killed while serving with other aid workers providing eye care in Afghanistan. Brian was a 2009 graduate of JMU and we are deeply saddened by this news. The university community grieves alongside Brian’s family and we extend our condolences to them."
