Man barricaded in Manassas hotel room

By Erica Johnston

An armed man has barricaded himself in a Manassas hotel room after a domestic dispute, Manassas City police said.

The man, who police described as being about 50, locked himself into a room at the Home Style Inn after arguing with a female companion in the parking lot.

Police were dispatched shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and once they arrived, the man ran into a room and shot out the windows. Police were unsure whether it was his room, because he was not registered at the hotel.

Police said later Wednesday evening that they were negotiating with the man to surrender. No one has been hurt during the incident.

The increasing number of armed people who barricade themselves in houses and hotel rooms and have stand offs with the police has become ridiculous.

It's time for the police to start serving notice that they will shoot to kill any idiot who does it...and that they will immediately end the stupidity.
