Man struck by bus in Va. dies

UPDATE:
A California man struck by a bus in Woodbridge has died, ABC 7 reports.

Jose Chavez, 18, of Shafter, Calif., was struck Tuesday morning by a Provost Prevost Coach Bus while crossing the intersection of Gideon Drive and Dale Boulevard. He became trapped underneath the bus and was dragged about 50 feet, authorities said.

He died Tuesday morning.

Prince William County police say a man from California became trapped under a bus before being dragged down a street.

Police say the 18-year-old man was crossing the intersection of Gideon Drive and Dale Boulevard in Woodbridge Monday night when he was hit by a Provost Prevost Coach Bus. The bus dragged the man for about 50 feet until it stopped.

The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The bus driver was identified as a 48-year-old woman from Florida.

Police are investigating the incident.
