Mistake in Virginia Lottery drawing
The Virginia Lottery says it will pay prizes on two sets of numbers in the Win For Life game because of a reporting error in Wednesday night's drawing.
The agency says a six was incorrectly entered into the gaming system as a nine. Lottery executive director Paula Otto said the system would be reset so prizes can be paid on both sets of numbers. Players shouldn't cash their tickets until Friday.
The drawn numbers were 3, 6, 8, 17, 21, 30 and Free Ball 31. The reported numbers were 3, 8, 9, 17, 21, 30 and Free Ball 31.
Lottery spokeswoman Jill Vaughan said nobody matched either set of numbers to win the top prize of $1,000 a week for life. Smaller prizes for both sets of numbers combined will total less than $200,000.
