No bond for Va. man in online bomb threat
A federal magistrate has denied bond for an Arlington man charged with threatening on Facebook to detonate bombs on Metrorail trains and under manhole covers in Georgetown.
Awais Younis was charged in U.S. District Court in Alexandria earlier this month with interstate communication of threats. A New Orleans woman with whom Younis chatted on Facebook became alarmed when Younis referred to building pipe bombs. She alerted the FBI.
The magistrate judge, Ivan Davis, has ordered that Younis undergo a mental health evaluation.
Prosecutors said Tuesday that the FBI is still trying to determine if Younis had the intent or means to carry out the threat.
