NYC-Los Angeles flight diverted to Dulles
A United Airlines flight from New York to Los Angeles was diverted to Dulles International Airport Sunday night after a small fire broke out in the cockpit, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman said.
Flight 27, which carried 105 passengers and a crew of seven, landed at Dulles shortly after 9:30 p.m., said FAA spokeswoman Holly Baker. She said the fire had apparently been small and was contained before the Boeing 757 landed. No injuries were reported.
She said the runway on which the plane landed was closed for about 40 minutes while the plane was inspected.
The FAA will investigate, Baker said.
