Save the azaleas! D.C.-area blogs
Good afternoon. Once the season moves into high gear, I know it's easy to get burned out on the holidays. So today I'm offering a hybrid collection of posts from the D.C.-area blogosphere. Some are Thanksgiving-related (including some great conversation starters for the dinner table) and some intriguing non-holiday tidbits. Read on.
Save the azaleas! Local azalea fans are concerned about an announcement that the U.S. National Arboretum plans to remove a mature azalea display on Mount Hamilton. According to the Washington Gardener blog, "the Garden Unit Leader at the National Arboretum, Scott Aker, announced that the azaleas will be cut down in the summer of 2011 and their stumps painted with herbicide." Read more here about a campaign to stop the removal.
Because we know that sometimes guests show up early. Because we know that sometimes the turkey isn’t ready on time. Because we know, sometimes you just run out of things to say, DC Urban Dad presents these Thanksgiving-themed conversation chestnuts you can throw out before, during or after dinner.
Sometimes a picture is worth 1,000 words (or more if you’re feeling really inspired.) From DCist.
Now this is what I call a true turkey pancake. Thanks to Jim's Pancakes. (HT: The Heights Life)
Help yourself and help others. The Park View Recreation Center is accepting holiday food donations until Thanksgiving. Park View, D.C. had the details.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the day. I'm back tomorrow with more great posts from the D.C.-area blogosphere. Thanks much for all your great blog recommendations and for your feedback.
