A specially formed Virginia Senate subcommittee has voted to kill a bill that would have repealed the state's 17-year-old law banning the purchase of more than one gun a month.
The panel voted along party lines 4-1 to table the bill sponsored by Del. L. Scott Lingamfelter (R-Prince William), the Virginia Politics blog reports.
Only four states have a gun-a-month law: Virginia, Maryland, California and New Jersey.
