Volcano forces hospital to cancel trip
Howard University Hospital has been forced to postpone a medical mission to Nigeria because of the flight disruptions caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland.
The plume of volcanic ash hovering over Europe has forced thousands of flight cancellations. The Howard team was forced to postpone the mission because their flight to Nigeria had a connection in Frankfurt, Germany, that has been canceled.
The hospital had planned to send 30 doctors. It sends teams twice a year to provide free medical care in parts of the country that need it.
