Prince George's declares state of emergency

By Washington Post editors

Prince George’s County Executive Jack B. Johnson (D) has declared a state of emergency, county officials just announced.

In a statement, officials asked residents to stay off the roadways to allow crews to do their work, and said all cars must be removed from snow emergency routes to avoid being ticketed or towed.

"Residents are also reminded to check their emergency preparedness kits and make sure they have everything needed if they are snowed in for a couple of days, including any necessary medications," the statement said.

In the event of an emergency, residents can call the Snow Emergency Information Center at 301.350.0500.

We in Asheville and the Western Carolina mountains have just had two big snowstorms ad got the tail end of the one that's coming your way. We in the city are now experiencing freezing rain, snow, sleet and ice which will be with us all weekend. Having lived most of our lives in Maryland and the DC area, we know how even one drop of snow would tie up the city. Citizens, please, please do as your mayor and the officials of other municipalities ask. I can;t believe that the governor of Virginia would try to keep offices open throughout the state, especially that bottleneck known as Northernn Virginia. That's foolhardy of him. We'll be watching that one as well as the whole area. Get what you keed, residents, het home tonight and plan to stay in all weekend. As a former Prince George's County schoolteacher, I was always glad and thankful that I had snow days. Stay in.

So Jack Johnson has declared a state of emergency. Any truth to the rumor that two golden retrievers walked into his office today?

@FridayKnight - get a life and see if you can stay out of the way of someone with some sense. It's comments like these that are an indication of just how far we have yet to go in this country regarding race. I know it is your perogative to say what you want, just don't intentionally set-out to offend an entire race of people with your stupidity.
