And for all these snowball fights will be overzealous jackbooted unconstitutional racist D.C. cops.

Lanier resign now!

Posted by: bs2004 | February 5, 2010 10:33 PM | Report abuse

If the cops come to play, I will bring my rocks concealed in snow to throw at them.

Posted by: johng1 | February 5, 2010 10:46 PM | Report abuse

Better yet, conceal a stool sample inside the snowball.

Posted by: BethesdaDog | February 5, 2010 10:52 PM | Report abuse

If you hit somebody with a snowball on a public street who doesn't want to get hit by a snowball and your only defense is, "I was just playing," take that and your merry band of snowballers to a park. It's just not that funny and it could be grounds for an assault charge. How would you like your bosses to hear about that on Monday? How would you like the person filing the complaint against you to demand that you be fired? Grow up...the whole city isn't your playground.

Posted by: Carole5520 | February 5, 2010 11:11 PM | Report abuse

How about if that snowball thrown at the wrong individual or car runs off the rode and run into the crowd of idiots throwing---killing and maiming some of course.

Mostly likely reported incidents in that scenario would stop that mob behaviour, than just the cop pulling a gun.

Those poor grieving families of the fun loving snow ball throwers. Oh Well!!!

I'm gonna throw ice balls at Prius and cars with rainbow stickers. Deal with it.

Posted by: BO__Stinks | February 5, 2010 11:33 PM | Report abuse

what about falls church?

Posted by: lrw2a | February 5, 2010 11:37 PM | Report abuse

BO_Stinks, what if the prius and rainbow stickers throws back a bullet. Maybe just be brave and thrown a snowball or anything at a person face to face and see what happens.

Or better yet just keep being a coward and hiding while you do your dirt, people always eventually get what they deserve.

Posted by: HonE | February 6, 2010 12:01 AM | Report abuse

No fair! We folks up in Laurel miss all the fun. Oh well, have fun guys!

Posted by: tynitra | February 6, 2010 4:15 AM | Report abuse

If someone gets hit by a snowball and there's 30 people there, do you expect the police to come down to sort it out?

If you get hit by a snowball, just laugh.

Oh, and the idea of Prius owners carrying a weapon is pretty funny. Unless you count "smug self-satisfaction" as a weapon.

Any snowball fights in Alexandria? C'mon, let's do it, Alexandria/Old bout we meet in the Eisenhower Metro parking lot?

Posted by: LuvMySkinz | February 6, 2010 8:40 AM | Report abuse

Wanda Jones, I'm guessing BO stinks had read the editorial by one of the young adults involved in the infamous snowball fight in Dec, who explained that the Hummer was targeted because they (the youngsters in the snowball fight) were largely environmentalists and the Hummer is a gas guzzler. I'm guessing BO Stinks was as disgusted as I was by that rationalization, thus prompting his facetious comment.
In the context, I found his comment very amusing.

I think orginaized snowball fights are great strss relievers. Just have them in an area where people not involved won't get hit. We hear everyday about crime in the city and people being afraid to come out. Put snow on a hill and people who normally wouldn't talk to each other will show up with their kids and everybody will have a good time. When I was a youngster (a long long time ago) I remember after a heavy snow fall the police closed 13th street next to Cardoza high school and allowed people to slide down the hill. People who noramlly would have stayed home came out to participate or watch and cheer.

All of these fights ARE at parks. Besides which the whole city is shut down. How many innocent passersby will even be out and in the line of fire from people who think the whole city is their playground. Your whole post makes me think that you live a singularly joyless existence and probably have since your days in elementary school as a tattletale. Let me guess what your gripe is in the summer time: kids who need to come into your yard to get their balls, about which you tell them "it's mine now."
I would venture a guess that any snowballs that hit you today are not random.

Excluding all of the rants (which are neither necessary, nor useful), what does this say about society?

People need to organize snowball fights???

What about just going outside, enjoying the beautiful (if cold & wet) scenery, and, if a few people happen to decide to throw snowballs at each other, fine. Next thing you know, there will be organized amateur leagues, college varsity teams (dominated by the northern schools, which will even off the situation that exists in college baseball), and then, (ta da) the National Snowball League.

For Carole5520. An assault charge? The fun police sure are out in full force. Hope you take a snowball to the face.

If the most educated people in the US honestly live in DC, then this country is in real trouble.

A "Find a Snowball Fight Near You" link on the front page of How freakin' pathetic. Has this town really been taken over by lonely, misplaced twenty somethings who constantly need to feel important by showing how awesome and type A they are? An organized snowball fight? Snow kickball? You all really how much of a joke that is right? Wow ... DC. Stop playing yourselves.

A planned snowball fight?????

What is this world coming to?

You can't have a snowball fight on the mall!!!!

You need a good city block with good cover like a buick, cadillac, datsun, front porch, etc.

I'm glad that DCPS came to its senses. I'm hoping that Fenty realizes that the DC Government also should be closed tomorrow. About 10 percent of metro busses will be running, in part because the streets have not been cleared, and metro is expecting to run below ground trains at 24-30 minute intervals. How on earth are people supposed to get to work, even if they live in or near the city, if mass transit is not running reliably and streets are not clear?
