Winter storm sets records
Last week's fast-moving winter storm set precipitation records for Jan. 26 at three airports in the Mid-Atlantic.
The National Weather Service says 7.8 inches of snow fell Wednesday at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. That's a record for that date, eclipsing the previous mark of 6.9 inches set on Jan. 26, 1966.
Dulles International Airport got 7.3 inches, also a Jan. 26 record. And because the snow was so heavy and wet, all three airports set new records for the total amount of precipitation for that day.
