Wegmans to open in Germantown

By Washington Post editors

Germantown residents will have a new grocery option. Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans has announced it will open its first Montgomery County store possibly by 2012, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The store will be the anchor tenant at the Shops at Seneca Meadows, a 156-acre mixed-use project at Observation Drive and Seneca Meadows Parkway.

Wegmans currently has six D.C. area stores in Virginia. The company is slated to open a store in Maryland this October in Lanham.

the Lanham store will not be the first Wegmans in Maryland. For several years, Wegmans has had a store in Hunt Valley, MD.

I see a future for fresh grocers in suburban Maryland, MoCo.

The FreshGrocer is reported as looking for locations here, as well as Shop-Rite.

Already we have vibrant fresh grocers such as H-mart, SuperFresh, and Harris-Teeter to name a few.

The more, the merrier. I can't wait to shop these fine stores for the quality, value and selection.

A heads up, saving money takes more than just clipping coupons. Finding high quality tasty private label store brands is an additional weapon shoppers can use to stretch their scarce food dollars. Wegman's private label offerings are a great value. Likewise I have found the Super Fresh Via Roma authentic Italian food products and Green Way organic labels to offer both exceptional quality and value, as well.
