Winds continue to cause damage in the region
UPDATE:
Glenelg High School in Howard County is closing at 1 p.m. due to a power outage. All extracurricular activities scheduled at Glenelg are canceled. The wrestling match that was scheduled for this evening will take place on Saturday.

Atholton High School in Howard County becomes the latest school to close early Friday because of a power outage. The school closed at noon. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday are canceled, including dance auditions which had been rescheduled for today.
Mount Vernon Community School in Alexandria closed early Friday because of a power outage.
In addition, there have been numerous reports of downed trees and power lines because of the wind. One of the more serious incidents from Friday's windblown day occurred when two men fell 30 feet from a construction site at the Safeway on Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown. The men, who are brothers, lost their footing and fell 30 feet into a ditch.
