My Endorsement: Deeds's Tax Honesty
The Post is asking readers to make the case for their favored candidate in the Virginia governor’s race in 200 words or less.

Supports: R. Creigh Deeds
Party Identification: None
2005 Vote: Tim Kaine
I intend to vote for Sen. R. Creigh Deeds. Robert F. McDonnell appears to be against all tax increases, under all circumstances. I believe that this is unrealistic. If we want to spend more money on transportation and higher education, we may have to raise taxes.
Deeds takes this position, and I shall vote for him.
To submit your own endorsement, write to letters@washpost.com with “My Endorsement” in the subject line. Include your party affiliation, if any, as well as how you voted in Virginia’s last governor’s race. Finally, please include a day and evening phone number (not for publication) and a note disclosing any connection you have to Sen. R. Creigh Deeds or Robert F. McDonnell, their campaigns or the Democratic or Republican parties.
