As I pass through the halls of the Level 1 trauma center where I work, I see gaunt young men in wheelchairs with obvious health struggles; often, they are victims of gunshot wounds that brought an abrupt end to their gang-related lifestyles.
Robert F. McDonnell’s work as state attorney general to deal with this broad-impact community issue, including his efforts to keep vulnerable youth from joining “The Wrong Family” (the name of the award-winning documentary that his office made) and his work to support trauma centers is emblematic of his devotion to developing stable communities and families to build a strong and safe core for Virginia.
To submit your own endorsement, write to letters@washpost.com with “My Endorsement” in the subject line. Include your party affiliation, if any, as well as how you voted in Virginia’s last governor’s race. Finally, please include a day and evening phone number (not for publication) and a note disclosing any connection you have to Sen. R. Creigh Deeds or Robert F. McDonnell, their campaigns or the Democratic or Republican parties.
