Juggling phones at 23rd and M
By Shirley A. Johnson
Washington
Recently, while I was in the crosswalk at 23rd and M streets NW, a woman driving a large SUV cut across my path while using two cellphones at once. She was steering the SUV with her left hand, even though she had a hot-pink cellphone scrunched between her left shoulder and neck. At the same time, she was talking on a second cell phone, which she held in her right hand.
When it comes to cellphone multitasking, I thought I had seen everything. Where did this driver leave her awareness and common sense?
