Next stop on Metro: Roto-Rooter Station
By James Carson

Why agonize over naming the new Silver Line stations? Have some fun and generate additional revenue for Metro. I’m suggesting a bidding process for the naming rights, a la Verizon Center, FedEx Field and Jiffy Lube Live (formerly Nissan Pavilion). Everyone knows what they are, but their names offer no clues to their locations.
The possibilities for the Silver Line are many and potentially highly lucrative. For example, the planned station near Route 7 and Gosnell Road is very close to the headquarters of Science Applications International Corp. The Ritz-Carlton won’t be far away from another station. Roto-Rooter could even bid on one of the stations nearest the underground portion.
Come on, Metro and Fairfax County, think outside the box — and make some money, too.
