Patriots, Panthers win a pair

The Park View and Potomac Falls boys and girls swept non-district matchups on the hardwood Thursday night. In Liberty District action, the Stone Bridge boys scored a big win over South Lakes at home.

Girls
Park View 38, Clarke County 31
Freshman Chloe Owens scored a team-high 10 points and Yorkie Torto added eight as the Patriots won for just the second time this season. Tied at 7 after the first quarter, Park View (2-8) held the Eagles scoreless in the second and went into the half with a 26-7 lead. Jordin Westbrook finished with six points and seven blocks for the Patriots who visit Briar Woods on Friday night, still looking for their first district win.

Potomac Falls 53, Heritage 41
Raven Short led all scorers with 19 points and Symone' Berry added nine and eight rebounds as the Panthers continued their hot start with a win in Leesburg. Erika Grabbi led the Pride with 12.

South Lakes 56, Stone Bridge 45
The Bulldogs lost for only the second time on the season, snapping a six-game win streak that included a sweep of the Leesburg Honda Holiday Tournament. With the loss, they fell to 2-1 in the Liberty District.

Boys
Park View 60, Clarke County 55
The Patriots (6-4) won for the fifth time in their last six contests, completing a season sweep of the Eagles and claiming their first road victory of the year. Park View hosts Briar Woods tonight in Sterling.

Potomac Falls 66, Heritage 55
The Panthers kept rolling along as Lukas Mihailovich once again led the way with 19 points and Brendon Chesson and Greg Graves each chipped in 11. Senior forward Elijah Calhoun led all scorers with 20 for the Pride and Eric Dentler added 15. The Panthers have won six straight.

H (2-5) — Calhoun 20, Dentler 15, Arbogast 8, Alcorn 6, Russell 4, Cavan 2. Totals 21 10-15 55.
PF (9-1) — Mihailovich 19, Chesson 11, Graves 11, Curran 6, Wagenhoffer 5, Hoover 4, Kress 4, Owens 4, Sweger 2. Totals 25 12-17 66.

Stone Bridge 75, South Lakes 54
Coming off a strong showing in their holiday tournament and a close defeat to Langley earlier in the week, the Bulldogs ran away from the Seahawks in the second half to improve to 2-1 in the league and notch a big, confidence-boosting win over a perennial district force.

SL (4-7, 2-2) — Smith 15, Daye 10, Christian 6, Cooper 4, Galbraith 4, Shaheedian 3, Shipp 3, Spicer 3, Ball 2, Brooks 2, Wallace 2. Totals 23 5-14 54.
SB (6-4, 2-1) — Berry 21, Brown 14, Tripp 9, Eleazer 6, Lowdermilk 6, Nowakowski 6, Paige 6, Gouveia 2, Hamrick 2, Wells 2, Michael 1. Totals 29 15-22 75.
