Oatlands XC Invitational Set for Sept. 26

The fifth annual Oatlands Cross Country Invitational will take place Saturday, September 26 at Oatlands Plantation outside of the Leesburg. The event, which is sponsored by Moore Cadillac Hummer, has become one of the largest high school sporting events in the state of Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metro area. Last year almost 6,000 spectators and 4,000 athletes from 102 high schools attended the event including athletes from Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, D.C. and Virginia. The 2009 event looks to be nearly as large, as teams continue to enter. The majority of northern Virginia high schools have already entered the meet. The invitational will begin at 9 a.m. with the first of eight races. Races will begin every 30 minutes with the Varsity A races starting at 12 noon and 12:30 p.m.
