Thursday Night Scores
Thursday night was football night in and around Loudoun as eight teams took the field after a short week of practice. The result was hit or miss...
No. 13 Stone Bridge 36, West Springfield 33 - This game had all the drama we've come to expect from the Bulldogs-Spartans rivalry, but the visitors scored twice in two minutes in the fourth quarter to knock off their hosts for their fifth straight year. Look for my full first-hand account in Sunday's Loudoun Extra and online.
No. 5 Broad Run 41, Wilson (D.C.) 0 - Just another ho hum Spartans beat down with another 100-yard effort and two more touchdowns for T.J. Peeler.
Loudoun County 13, Sherando 10 - Raiders kicker Callee Brown nailed a 42-yard field goal in the final minute to keep the Raiders perfect on the season and hand the Warriors their first defeat.
Loudoun Valley 20, Brooke Point 0 - Hello Vikings! Congratulations on an early ticket to next week's rankings. Great win for the boys from Purcellville to go down to Stafford and dominate a Brooke Point squad that was on the brink of cracking the Post rankings this week.
Martinsburg (W.Va.) 25, Briar Woods 14 - The Falcons just can't seem to catch a break in their tough non-district schedule.
Liberty 41, Potomac Falls 0 - Looks like the Eagles were still steaming from their three-point loss to Park View last week.
Kettle Run 25, Freedom 14 - A 3-0 start was too much to ask of the Eagles in their first road trip, but if you told them they'd be 2-1 at this point, I'd imagine they'd gladly take it.
Colonial Forge 40, Heritage 12 - After two close losses in their first two games of the season, the Pride couldn't hang in this one.
I'll have much more from these games after I've had a chance to digest the stats and box scores (at least the ones we receive). So stay tuned...
