Valley's Bennett signs with Frances Marion

Two weeks ago, Loudoun Valley celebrated senior setter Nicole Bennett as she signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Frances Marion University next year. Days after signing, she helped lead the Vikings to the program's fourth state title and first at the AAA level, with a 3-1 victory over South County in Richmond.

A three-year starter and team captain, Bennett compiled 401 assists as the team's lone setter for much of the season. The first team All-Cedar Run selection totaled 127 service points, 34 aces, 56 kills and 12 solo blocks.

Frances Marion is located in Florence, S.C. and the Patriots competes in the Division II Peach Belt Conference.

"I chose FMU because from the first time I set foot on campus I knew it was the right place for me," Bennett said. "The academic and volleyball programs, the coaches and my future teammates were everything I was looking for in a University. Volleyball has been a big part of my life since I was twelve, I feel very fortunate and am very excited that I will be able to continue to play in college at this level and look forward to all the opportunities yet to come."
