Volleyball, Golf Roundup

Dulles District play is finally underway in volleyball and several teams scored big victories last night, and on the links, Heritage got a nice showing against Freedom. Here are the highlights...

Volleyball

Loudoun County def. Briar Woods 25-22, 25-13, 26-24
The Lady Raiders volleyball team started their district season off with a 3-0 sweep over the Falcons of Briar Woods. The Raiders had contributors from all angles including: Emily Vandegrift (11 kills, 4 blocks), Juliane Hanna (8 kills, 6 digs, 3 blocks, 4 points, 2 aces), Allie Cain (6 kills, 3 points, 2 aces), Molly Baldwin (6 kills, 3 blocks), Sammy Dormio (5 kills, 4 digs, 3 blocks, 5 points), Jenna Strange (2 kills, 2 blocks), Robin Marsala (24 assists, 10 points, 3 aces), Colleen Bowlds (9 assists, 3 digs), Kathleen Horvath (9 digs, 4 points), Hannah Arnold (9 digs, 2 points), Gabby Serafin (9 points, 5 digs).

The JV (7-1) and Freshmen (4-0) teams also got off to a fast start with 2-0 sweeps. The Varsity improved to 6-1 (1-0) on the season and all three teams hit the court again Thursday when they host Freedom at 6/6/7.

Heritage def. Broad Run 25-20, 13-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12
Two weeks after they edged the Spartans 3-2 at the Herndon Invitational, the Pride (5-0) needed another five-game effort to get past their former district mates at home Tuesday night.

Potomac Falls def. Park View 25-14, 25-19, 27-25
The Panthers (2-1) bounced back nicely from last week's loss to Heritage, sweeping the Patriots for the second time in seven days.

Nicole Fauteux - 12 kills, 9 assists, 8 digs, 1 ace, 11 service points
Eileen Fauteux -18 assists, 6 digs, 1 service point
Kayla Motheral - 2 kills, 6 blocks, 2 digs, 3 aces, 4 service points, 1 assist
Patricia Mook - 6 block, 3 solo blocks, 1 kill, 1 dig
Devan Baxley - 2 blocks 5 digs, and 8 service points
Megan Bahr - 6 blocks and 1 kill
Kayla Carlton - 1 block, 3 kills, 6 digs, 6 aces, 10 service points
Alexa Campbell - 3 blocks, 5 kills, 2 aces, 8 service points, 20 digs
Keeley Dugan - 1 block, 4 kills, 2 digs
Harley Marrocco - 8 digs

Golf

The Heritage Pride got past Freedom on Tuesday afternoon, claiming 168-177 victory.
