Gee Gee Greene Will Continue to Return Kickoffs

Freshman Gee Gee Greene has returned kickoffs throughout the season for the Midshipmen, but toward the end of the second quarter against Western Kentucky last Saturday, he was benched in favor of junior John Angelo. Coach Ken Niumatalolo wasn't happy that Greene fumbled in Navy territory earlier in the quarter, a turnover that set up a WKU touchdown.

But Greene, who is averaging 16.4 yards per return, is still Navy's kickoff returner. He is also part of the rotation at slotback, and is the only freshman who is getting playing time on offense.

"He's such a talented kid, and I want to make sure I don't crush his confidence," Niumatalolo said. "I kind of think back to Reggie [Campbell] as a freshman; he did some good and some bad. Once he got that confidence going, he was a different person. So I'm hoping that happens for Gee Gee, too."
