Slot back Marcus Curry (offense), defensive end Jabaree Tuani (defense) and wide receiver Gary Myers (special teams)—a trio of sophomores—were named game MVPs against Louisiana Tech.
In his Monday press conference, Dave Wannstedt said he was impressed with how Navy played on defense against Ohio State. Pitt's defense, which gave up 500 yards to Buffalo, needs to improve, particularly given "the Midshipmen's precision and efficiency on offense." Junior Elijah Fields replaces Andrew Taglianetti at safety for the Panthers. Preparing for Navy isn't an easy challenge. "It will require as much attention to detail as anybody we play all year," Wannstedt said, according to the Hartford Courant.
Navy will host UAB in 2016 and travel to Birmingham in 2017, according to the Birmingham News. It will be the first-ever meetings between the programs.
