Wednesday Morning Links

Sorry I've been slow in posting things this week, but I've been working on a longer story that will appear in Friday's paper.

Here's a link to the notebook I wrote for today's paper, about junior linebacker Tyler Simmons. Louisana Tech Coach Derek Dooley says Navy "beat Ohio State up and down the field and should have won the game," according to the Shreveport Times. The Bulldogs had their chances against Auburn. Navy ranks sixth in ESPN's non-AQ power rankings, behind BYU, Boise State, Notre Dame, TCU and Utah. The Birddog blog has a comprehensive breakdown of Navy's loss at Ohio State, complete with video highlights and analysis.

Vote for Ricky Dobbs for the Davey O'Brien Award, which honors the nation's top quarterback. Fan voting counts for 5 percent of the voting process for each round. As of 9 a.m. today, Dobbs was in second place behind Colt McCoy of Texas. (Some guy named Tim Tebow was in seventh.)
