Game MVPs: Air Force
The majority of the honorees from Saturday's 16-13 overtime victory over Air Force came from the defense and special teams. Said Coach Ken Niumatalolo: "We dominated them in two of three phases. I felt like we did phenomenal on defense and our special teams was phenomenal. Conversely, we got our butts kicked on offense."
Defense: LB Ross Pospisil (team-high 12 tackles, including one TFL, and a fumble recovery); DE Jabaree Tuani (seven tackles, plus a forced fumble); S Wyatt Middleton (nine tackles, plus two pass break-ups).
("Defensively we had three [MVP's], because we played phenomenal," Niumatalolo said. "When you play that well, there's more than one person.")
Special Mention: DE Matt Nechak (seven tackles); LB Tony Haberer (eight tackles, including two TFLs).
Special Teams: PK Joe Buckley (three field goals, including the eventual game-winner in overtime).
Special Mention: S Wyatt Middleton; P Kyle Delahooke (averaged 41.8 yards and twice pinned Air Force inside the 15); LS Brian Ackerman and H Greg Zingler (teamed with Buckley on his kicks).
Offense: WR Greg Jones (21-yard catch on a third-and-10 that kept alive a drive that ended in a Buckley field goal).
Special Mention: None.
