Mario Washington dismissed from the academy
Mario Washington, projected to start at wide receiver this season, is no longer at the Naval Academy, the school's public affairs office confirmed today. An academy official declined to specify the nature of Washington's separation, but it is believed to be because of a violation of academy rules.
Washington, a senior, had nine receptions, the second most on the team, for 165 yards last season. He played in 13 games.
Washington's dismissal deals another blow to the offense after slotback Marcus Curry, who tied for the team lead in receptions last season, left the academy in May after he was dismissed from the team for detrimental conduct.
