Blue and Gold scrimmage about to start

Navy players are on the field stretching and getting set for the start of the Blue and Gold scrimmage at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen are in great shape in terms of experience heading into the season, with the exception of linebacker and slotback. Those positions are still in flux, and today's scrimmage should give some insight as to which players will be on the field on Sept. 6, when Navy opens the season against Maryland at M&T Bank Stadium.

Sophomore Gee Gee Greene has been getting a good deal of snaps at starting slotback in training camp and figures to get a lot of work today. At linebacker, only Tyler Simmons has significant experience. The rest of the slots are up for grabs and remain very much a work in progress.

Check back later today for highlights from the scrimmage and comments from players and coaches.
