Gameday: Mystics-Sun

Today is the last day for games around the WNBA before the league takes a month-long break for the Beijing Olympics. A break that will turn into training camp part deux for the Mystics, because up to this point interim head coach Jessie Kenlaw had just tweaked the systems Washington was using while Tree Rollins was coach, the break will give her the time to create more of her own game plan.

Players each get five days off to do whatever they want (most are visiting family) during the break -- there is a group rotation of sorts as to who goes when -- and the rest of the time will be regular practices, lifting, video or Kenlaw's version of training camp. And because the Mystics don't have anyone on the Olympic team, Kenlaw thinks the break could be a real advantage.

In case you missed it, Indiana lost last night, which means if the Fever lose again today at Phoenix (9 p.m.) and the Mystics beat Connecticut here at Verizon Center they will be tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Here are your starters:
The Usual for the Mystics:
F-Monique Currie
F-Taj McWilliams-Franklin
C-Nakia Sanford
G-Alana Beard
PG-Nikki Blue

Sun:
F-Asjha Jones
F-Tamika Whitmore
G-Lindsay Whalen (who scored 33 points against the Mystics two weeks ago)
G-Ketia Swanier
G-Amber Holt

Katie, this is meant totally respectfully and just by way of a constructive suggestion, but when you put up a pre-game post a mere 25 minutes before the tip, many if not most of the local folks who likely read this blog are already sitting in the arena.
