Fever 85, Mystics 81
A balanced Mystics attack wasn't enough to overcome a career night from Katie Douglas and an Indiana squad that has become nearly unbeatable at Conseco Fieldhouse. The win Tuesday night pushed the Eastern Conference-leading Fever to 9-1 at home and 13-4 overall.
Douglas and Mystics star Alana Beard both went 9 for 19 from the field, but Beard finished with 19 points, while Douglas scored a career-high 34 points. The difference? Douglas went to the free throw line 16 times, which happens to be the same number of trips to the charity stripe that the Mystics made as a team.
Despite the free throw discrepancy, Washington showed that when its offense is clicking, there is no shortage of scoring options. Five Mystics scored in double figures, led by Beard's 19. Monique Currie had another strong showing, her second double-digit effort in a row with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including four from beyond the arc. Chasity Melvin scored 14 points, Lindsey Harding added 13 points and Crystal Langhorne chipped in 11.
The loss curtailed the Mystics' burgeoning winning streak, and their record fell to 9-8.
The Fever's Tamika Catchings, who scorched Washington for 28 points July 21 at Verizon Center, was held to 15 in Tuesday night's contest.
But the difference maker was Douglas, who scored 24 of her points in the second half, 15 in the third quarter alone.

As a fan, while I appreciate your providing a quickie game report, but I must say I expect more from a blog calling itself an "Insider". There's nothing much in your report that I can't find in the AP article online.
Here are few questions I would be interested in knowing the answers to:
1. BMo's injury. Is it serious?
2. 2 games now the team has started fast only to fade in the 2nd period. Why?
3. What's wrong with Marissa Coleman? Is her injury still bothering her or is it more mental?
4. Mo Currie's played better since the article in the WP about her slump. Is it coincidence or did Mo do some soul seaching?
5. Did Coach Plank's mother like JP's new suit?
Those are just some examples. I realize the WP isn't spending the money to send reporters to the away games. But isn't it still possible to obtain information or get answers to questions by phone or email? My point is that there are plenty of questions that a media insider could be asking and reporting on. If all we get as fans from an insider blog is just game reports, we can just wait to read the actual article when it's posted, or read the AP.
I'm not trying to be nasty. I simply would love to see this blog evolve into a true source of insider reporting. IMO the "Insider" is in a bit of a slump. LOL!
