Beard, Ajavon Blog the Playoffs
The WNBA enlisted Alana Beard and Matee Ajavon as the Mystics to update a playoff blog this post season. You can check out their first entry, which is excerpted below, here.
BEARD: It's great to be in the playoffs! Even though we clinched Saturday night, we celebrated in the locker room after our loss against the Liberty because when we found out we clinched we were already on our bus on the way to New York. We also wanted to finish out the regular season and not overlook New York. Unfortunately, it looked like we did overlook them by the way we played.
AJAVON: I agree with her.
BEARD: There's just a different feeling this time around with this Mystics team. The chemistry is there. The first two years I was in the playoffs I felt like the teams I was on were just satisfied with making the playoffs. This team can do bigger things. It's time for us to take this organization to another level and move beyond the first round of the playoffs. I really believe and have faith that we can do that. We just have to play together and execute the game plan that the coaches put in front of us.
AJAVON: We're ready. We have a couple days to prepare for Indiana. We've seen this team before, we've played them all through the year. I think this time we're going to come a little harder being that it's now or nothing. That's our attitude.
Even though we got swept by the Fever during the regular season, we're approaching this series with toughness. We can't be satisfied with just being in the playoffs. And because Indiana beat us four times this year, it just pumps us up more to get that win.

indiana loves to get to the line! be aware of the game plan. ajavon is the master of getting to the space the person she is gaurding wants to go..... before they do!
CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!
BEARD is "thereason"- they have a very tough challange ahead of them...
indiana is coached WAY better then DC.
its pretty much up to the players to realize the game plan of the opponet (getting to the line, pushing the ball instead of walking it up the court) - and they have to make sure they are NOT helping indiana by playing rite into thier plan.
this is THE matchup to watch
