24 hours until roster deadline
The deadline for Washington to set its 11-player (including Alana Beard) roster for the regular season opener is 2 p.m. Friday. Matee Ajavon has returned from Turkey and rookie Ashley Houts arrived from New York Thursday. The team also waived rookie forward Shanavia Dowdell (Louisiana Tech).
Here's the current roster. Who do you think should make the cut?
Guards: Matee Ajavon, Lindsey Harding, Ashley Houts and Katie Smith
Guard/Forwards: La'Tangela Atkinson, Alana Beard and Marissa Coleman
Forwards: Monique Currie, Jennifer Lacy, Kristen Mann, Jacinta Monroe and Carla Thomas
Forward/Centers: Ewilina Kobryn, Crystal Langhorne, Chasity Melvin and Nakia Sanford

Carla Thomas deserves to make the Mystics opening day roster. She brings scoring, rebounding and defense, but most importantly, she has won a championship on every team and at every level of competition. If one isn't persuaded by her team success, then I'm willing to bet her individual accolades (i.e. SEC MVP)trump most others. Her game can best be likened to Lamar Odom.
