While the Mystics try to get some rest during the All Star break, here's some reading for this ridiculously hot and humid day in Washington.
If you missed it Tuesday night, forward Crystal Langhorne was named to the WNBA All Star team as a reserve for Saturday's game at Mohegan Sun Arena against the USA Basketball Women's National team. ESPN will broadcast the game, which begins at 3:30 p.m.You can find the full rosters for both teams at WNBA.com.
Alana Beard finished a new post for her blog "The Mind of an Athlete" over at SLAM Online about her mentor relationship with Marissa Coleman.
Also at SLAM Online, Ben York said what a few others have mentioned in recent weeks: Crystal Langhorne for Most Improved Player of the Year, again. I'm not sure if such a thing is possible, or how it reflects on previous accomplishments but there it is.
Earlier this week, Mechelle Voepel examined why this summer may finally be the season where the Mystics, who have played themselves to the top of the Eastern Conference, aren't ruled by Murphy's law.
Just in case you missed it over the weekend, my colleagues at Capital Business took a look at the empire of Mystics managing partner Shelia Johnson.
