Lineups and some minor notes

All right, a couple of posts today, probably.

But first, I'll speak up for Vandy alum Dave Sheinin: Was that a walk? I mean, tough shot and all. But he did change his pivot foot, didn't he?

Oh, and while we're talking about college basketball, Bob Knight is here. Hysterical sight, really, to see Tony La Russa, his good buddy, hitting fungoes to the infielders, and having Knight stand there and take the throws and then flip the ball to La Russa.

St. Louis:
Aaron Miles -- 6
Skip Schumaker -- 8
Albert Pujols -- 3
Chris Duncan -- 7
Preston Wilson -- 9
Adam Kennedy -- 4
Jolbert Cabrera -- 5
Gary Bennett -- 2
Kip Wells -- 1

Lopez -- 4
Guzman -- 6
Zimmerman -- 5
Kearns -- 9
Casto -- 7
Lee -- 3
Flores -- 2
Logan -- 8
Hill -- 1

Spoke to player development guru Bob Boone for a bit this morning, and they're starting to make decisions on where to send some of the top prospects. If I lived in Hagerstown, Md., I might be getting excited. The low Class A team could be stocked with Chris Marrero (first-round pick last year), SS Esmailyn Gonzalez (Dominican teenager signed for first-round money last year), Univ. of Maryland product Justin Maxwell and others. They could even move shortstop (and best-selling horror author) Stephen King to third base in Hagerstown.

Right-hander Colton Willems, who missed some time with a back problem earlier in the spring, is throwing again, but he'll likely start the year by remaining in Viera for extended spring training and could pitch in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League to start.

Class AA Harrisburg will have top starting prospect Collin Balester and top reliever Zech Zinicola, but either could move up quickly. (I'm betting we see both by the end of the year at RFK. You know how Bowden keeps saying, "We don't want to rush Balester"?? Well, I seem to remember, late in the summer of 2005, he was saying, "We don't want to rush Zimmerman." Yes, it's different with a pitcher, but ...)

Beautiful day here at the park. Big crowd (of Cardinals fans). Talk to you later.
