Sporadic and Unreliable Update No. 1
So Chris Michalak got two outs with a man on in the bottom of the first, but Jeff Kent touched him for a two-run bomb to left. Dodgers 2-0 after one.
The Nationals got one back in the top of the second when Brian Schneider (good spring so far) doubled to left (expect him to be asked about hitting to the opposite field, which helps round out his game and makes him more dangerous) and was driven home by Travis Lee's hard groundball single up the middle.
Michalak survived an error on Bernie Castro (who doesn't seem to have a good position to play, but he can really really really run) by getting a double play ball and a fly out. And here in the top of the third, the Nationals explode. Singles from Church and Kearns to start the inning, a run in on Schneider's double-play ball, then a new rally started by Restovich's single, a double from Lee to left (opp field), a double to right from Belliard to score Lee.
Going to the bottom of the third, Nationals 4, Dodgers 2. Michalak out for another inning.
Oh, one more thing. Damien Jackson cut by the Dodgers today. Outright release. One has to wonder if his career is finally over.
Also: I will stop providing updates unless I get some indication that there's someone out there listening.
