End-of-the-road-trip lineups

OK, just finished the chat. Thanks to anyone who stopped by.

Here's your lineups for today:

Washington:
Logan -- 8
Lopez -- 6
Zimmerman -- 5
Kearns -- 9
Church -- 7
Jimenez -- 4
Fick -- 3
Flores -- 2
Hill -- 1

(Young, Schneider just a day off. Belliard still feeling dizzy from a cold, and he's seeing a doctor. Pena available to pinch hit, but they want to rest that bruised foot.)

Los Angeles:
Furcal -- 6
Pierre -- 8
Kemp -- 9
Kent -- 4
Gonzalez -- 7
Martin -- 2
Loney -- 3
Hillenbrand -- 5
Penny -- 1

Over/under time-wise for Penny vs. Hill? Maybe 2:17?

Enjoy the game.

You mean it might actually finish before the soccer game (LA Galaxy-Pachuca at 8 PST)? :-P

Belay the above -- forgot it was an afternoon game.

Scooted outta work straight after the chat to catch the game, listening to Charlie and Dave (lousy reception in downtown DC) as the Nats put up 4 in the second! Yeah, bottom of the order!!!

So, returned home in time to see Martin's HR (boo) and saw Nook's attempted steal. He looked safe, didn't he???

To anyone watching the game on TV. Is Penny all over the place or what? 6 hits and a walk already (although no extra bases). Interesting...

WTG Church! How many doubles is that for him now?

Posted by: estuartj | August 29, 2007 3:52 PM | Report abuse

Yuck. DJ, you gotta do better than that when you get a chance to play...

Posted by: ShawNatsFan | August 29, 2007 3:53 PM | Report abuse

To answer my own question, that was Church's 37th double this year.

Stuck at work... need updates :)

Posted by: H LE | August 29, 2007 4:15 PM | Report abuse

Hey H LE:
After 4 innings, Nats are up 5-3. You can keep posted in half-innings at nationals.com but you can get pitch-by-pitch updates if you click on GameDay link with the Shawn Hill photo displayed.

If you can not get Gameday while at work, then post again and we can help, but otherwise it is mostly commentary beyond the basics that you get on pitch location and type of hit from Gameday.

Meanwhile, Nook just walked to open the top of the 5th. This could be a quickie...

After the 4th inning, Penny and Hill each had just under 70 pitches.

Nats up 5-3 in top of the 5th.

check that -- Nats up 6-3 on a Z-man single, scoring FLop who'd stolen 2nd immediately before.

This is a response to e on the previous thread, who was complaining about how bad it is to take Metro between Vienna and RFK. Can't find parking at Vienna Metro? Go to the Dunn Loring/Merrifield station instead. I've never had trouble finding parking there - sixteen times so far this year. I've also always had a seat on the train going in, and usually coming home as well. Definitely once you get past L'Enfant Plaza or Metro Center coming home you should always be able to slide into a seat. And I bet the fare and parking cost for the three of you wouldn't be all that much more than the $15 you pay to park at RFK. BTW, I bet you'll have to pay more than $15 to park at the new stadium, and it will take you more than 45 minutes to get in or out. I can understand if you're one of those people who inherently doesn't like to ride the train, but you know you really ought to give it a shot sometime. It's not that bad!

Penny's done for the day. They're pinch-hitting him now. Six runs on eight hits in five innings, 80-plus pitches.

Hill is really heating up now. 2 beautiful Ks to start off the 5th and a perfect groundball sinker for the 3rd batter.

Barry's gotta be swooning over this sinker today!

Are you kidding me? Fick homers? What the hell is going on here?

Stop the Presses! Home Run, Robert Fick.

And a double by Flores, did the Dodgers call up their AAA squad last night?

New post on the, uh, recent developments.

Gotta love Fick's HR in his hometown in front of family and friends. Just heard Dave and Charlie talking about how excited Fick was to get on the bus and get to the park this morning since he was starting. He's totally making this opportunity pay off!
