We're gonna sink like a rock if we have Fick instead of Young for any length of time.

Barry,

How about some digging on how bad Fick really is in 2007.......what keeps him in the MLB and why are the Nationals unable to find a better solution......5 RBI's in 2007 and what was it 9 RBI's last year.....Sweeney makes the same money with the Giants and he was new to them.....ask Jimbo for some kind of comment.....If we have to watch this at least I want to know Jimbo is feeling some hart ache watching out after out when for the same cash there were several better choices last winter.

Oh and Barry,

I hope I do not start an old topic but Chris at CP had some comments you may want to check out about WP coverage of Lerner vs. Times....You know Chris at CP is very pro-Barry (well deserved) but even he seems to have reached a limit on the Post "reporting".

Agree with others about Fick. He can't hit and plays all three positions poorly.

I would like to hear a comment from Bowden and Manny about what they see positive in Fick's play -- beyond that they like him in the clubhouse.

We really need to get Young back soon but going up against Webb, it probably wouldn't matter tonight.

JayB: Hey man, yeah, I saw Chris's point, which is absolutely spot on. I've alerted the powers that be, but we must report on that story, no quesiton.

Fick: Was just thinking that today. Other news will preclude it from getting into the paper.

Batista, please?

Again, the short-term fix which allows Fick to last the season is bringing currently hot Larry Broadway up in September. If Dmitri has to go to the DL, then Broadway can come up sooner.

Next year either brings back Nick, or gives us Dmitri, but we can get a better backup than Fick, in any case.

I couldn't agree more about Fick. I absolutely HATE seeing him in the lineup. Now that Larry Broadway has heated up in AAA, they should call him up to fill in. Either that or Josh Whitesill from AA. They certainly couldn't do any worse.

Please, ANYTHING other that Fick.

You might want to look at the news on the more recent post.

Barry-

I don't follow you, friend. What more recent post? Nothing more recent came up. I see Dmitri is still out, but day-to-day.

What's the scoop on Shawn Hill? Is he not making another rehab start and coming back next week?
