No FanFest, but player appearances
As it turns out, according to Nationals vice president of communications Chartese Burnett, the Nationals will not have a full, formal FanFest, or a caravan, like they had last year. Rather, the club is collecting players for a series of appearances in the area over the next two weekends.
"Most of them will be community-driven things," Burnett said, and I'll try to have a list to you of some of the stuff that's been nailed down in the next few hours. Likely some players will be at the Washington Auto Show Jan. 23-27 at the convention center, etc.
Basically, as Burnett said, the Nationals got off to a slow start on pinning players down at the end of the season, and it's difficult to catch up to guys over the holidays. But she figures they'll have a good showing at a few events.
