Just a couple of things:

1. Aaron Boone, in town to make an appearance tomorrow at the Health & Fitness Expo down at the Convention Center, will be on "Washington Post Live" on Comcast SportsNet today. If Russ Thaler (host) seems informed about what to ask him, it's because I told him what to ask him yesterday (and also because Russ is generally informed about all things DC sports).

2. Charlie Slowes will be working the Nationals Winter Tour (or at least part of it) without a contract, apparently. Club said yesterday they have no announcement. Slowes still staying mum. This might be an opportunity for fans who are concerned about this to tell Charlie how they feel -- or the Nats, for that matter.

3. I didn't put these here yesterday, but the Nats announced who they have invited to their "accelerated camp" for minor leaguers. It's the usual suspects, really, headed by Chris Marrero. This gives the major league staff -- and, in particular, player development gurus Bob Boone and Bobby Williams -- a chance to see many more of the team's top prospects for an extended period of time. It got rave reviews last year from the players, and it's part of what helped Dmitri Young rediscover his hunger for the game.

There are 17 pitchers, 16 of them righties: Adrian Alaniz, Martin Beno, Adam Carr, Marco Estrada, Juan Jaime, Cole Kimball, Jeff Mandel, Shairon Martis, Brad Meyers, Jhonny Nunez, Brad Peacock, Hassan Pena, Beltran Perez (remember him?), Cory VanAllen (only lefty), Colton Willems, Jordan Zimmermann, Zech Zinicola.

Four catchers: Devin Ivany, Derek Norris, Brian Peacock, Jhonotan Solano.

Nine infielders: 1B Chris Marrero (interesting that he's listed as a 1B), 1B Andrew Lafave (acquired in Ray King trade), 2B Stephen King (drafted as a shortstop), 2B Brandon Powell, SS Ian Desmond, SS Esmailyn Gonzalez, 3B Leonard Davis, 3B Steven Souza, 3B Ofilio Castro.

Seven outfielders: Edgardo Baez, Michael Burgess (watch out for him), Mike Daniel, Stephen Englund, Marvin Lowrance, Aaron Seuss, Jacob Smolinski.
