Actual baseball update
First off, all the candidates in the Nick Johnson's Hair poll appreciate your support. It appears lightning bolts shaved in the side of his head has a comfortable lead, though I'm not sure what the delegate count is, and how many super delegates are out there. Will check in on that.
The game: John Lannan was your starter, and he struggled to get ahead of hitters in the first inning, when Ivan Rodriguez hit a 3-1 fastball out to left and Miguel Cabrera hit an RBI single. He also gave up a homer to Cabrera in the third on a 1-0 changeup "that didn't do anything," Lannan said. So kind of a shaky outing -- 3-2/3 innings, three earned runs -- but Lannan said he felt pretty good. Knows he has to work on getting ahead a bit.
Other pitchers threw well -- Tyler Clippard in particular. And though the Nats trailed in the eighth, Rule 5 pick Matt Whitney hit an opposite-field three-run homer to tie things up.
Chris Schroder now on in the top of the ninth with the score tied 3-3.
Keep voting in the poll, check out the Zimmerman video done by Jonathan Forsythe, and I'll catch you one more time before the day's over.
