The cow jumped over the moon

Quick Tuesday a.m. post before I board a plane to San Diego. (With two LOST episodes cued up on the iPod and an entirely unread three-week stockpile of New Yorkers.)

Somewhat agonizing loss yesterday for the Nats, but I think the biggest thing to keep an eye on for now is Ryan Zimmerman's shoulder injury. When talking after the game, F.O.T. Franchise sounded a little uncertain about whether he'd be ready to play today, tomorrow, etc. It's one of those wake-up-and-see-how-it-feels deals.

So far, there are no red flags. No scheduled MRIs or anything. No forthcoming check-ups. Zimmerman might indeed be ready to play today -- no way to know yet -- but his status is worth keeping an eye on. I think it's safe to say the tape-recorder holding masses would have learned about Zimmerman's injury by now whether Paul Lo Duca spoke about it or not.

Make sure to read Boswell's latest column, too, before worrying about all the work that piled up during your holiday weekend.
